How Much Botox Do I Need?
Your guide to units, cost, and natural results
“How many units will I need?” is one of the most common questions we hear at Haven Wellness & Aesthetics.
The answer depends on your facial anatomy, muscle strength, and the results you’re hoping for. Your treatment plan should be specific to you.
What is a unit of Botox?
Botox (and Dysport) is measured in units, which describe the amount of medication used. Units aren’t the same as the number of injections; you can receive several units through one injection point.
How many units will I need?
The forehead, frown lines between the brows, and crow’s feet each require a different approach. Additionally, the lower face muscle groups all vary in approach. We assess how your face moves, where your brows naturally sit, and how the surrounding muscles work together. We also assess the strength of each muscle group to aid us in choosing the amount of units that will likely be most effective for the goals that you have.
It is very common for someone to expect to have a similar dose as a friend, but often a friend’s dose may not be the right dose for you. It is totally dependent on your facial anatomy, structure, muscle strength, and desired outcomes. We always encourage you to come in for an in person consultation so that we can properly assess your movement and guide you on what we think will be the perfect amount.
Will I look or feel frozen?
At Haven, our goal is to soften lines while keeping your expression looking like you. We’ll discuss how much movement you’d like to maintain and what’s realistic for your anatomy. The more units of botox, the more effective the muscle relaxation (and the longer the duration).
Placement matters just as much as the number of units. Your provider can customize the look and feeling of the botox based on your wants, needs, and prior experience.
We also encourage a two-three week follow up appointment after your tox injections so that we can assess the results visually as well as the way you feel. We can often adjust dosage and pattern of injections at that visit, as well as gain insight into what we need to do the same or differently for the next appointment.
How much does Botox cost?
Your total cost depends on the price per unit and the number of units recommended. Before treatment, we’ll walk you through your plan and pricing so you know what to expect.
We currently offer both Botox and Dysport due to their effectiveness and quality. Each are priced the same per unit.
Each brand offers reward programs that we love to utilize for our clients, that can often make treatments more affordable. We also offer Cherry Financing, as well as Affirm & Klarna for those who prefer to spread out payments.
How long does Botox last?
Results develop gradually, over a few weeks and generally last between 3-4 months, although individual results do vary. We’ll discuss when to assess your results and when another treatment may be appropriate.
